How it Works
In order to raise the money for the scholarships we sell whatever items people wish to donate on Amazon and eBay or, if it makes more sense, in other forums (for example, a particularly heavy item would probably go on Craigslist for local pick-up only).
We also earn a small income from the Google advertisements on this site. 100% of all earnings goes back into the organization, with most of that going towards scholarship funds. We retain a small percentage to help with advertising, buying shipping supplies, etc. Absolutely ZERO money goes into anyone's pocket except scholarship winners!
Non-scholarship things we spend money on are: postage, gas to pick up donated items, packing materials, $10 a year for the domain name, and listings fees on Amazon and eBay.
Because we are not an official government-sanctioned non-profit organization (it costs too much for the legal and accounting fees!), your donations are not tax-deductible. We just ask that you make them for the good karma or warm-fuzzy feeling you get... or just to get the stuff out of your house! :)
